This comprehensive training program has been meticulously designed to enhance your understanding of trauma, the nervous system, mind body connection, internal and external safety measures in the birth room, and much more.

Birth trauma is a significant concern in the United States, with research indicating that up to one-third of women report their birth experience as traumatic. These experiences can have long-lasting psychological impacts, not only affecting the mother but also the family as a whole.

This course aims to mitigate these challenges by providing birth workers with the necessary knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and manage situations that could potentially lead to birth trauma. By understanding trauma and the nervous system, doulas and other birth workers can create a safe and supportive environment for mothers during childbirth. This understanding, along with the practical skills gained from this course, will significantly contribute to reducing the prevalence of birth trauma and ensure a positive birth experience for all involved.

And if trauma does occur, you will have the beginning tools and resources of how to help the new birthing person. This is for you if you want to prevent, integrate, and start to process trauma with your clients.

Level 1 + level 2

Because there is so much information we have divided the material into Level 1 (Foundations) and Level 2 (Practical Applications). Foundations can be taken in person or online. You must take the Foundations course before progressing to Practical Applications.

Level 1: Foundations

A One-Day Immersive Training for Birth Professionals

Level 1 is a foundational, one-day training designed to equip birth workers with the essential tools to provide trauma-informed care in the birth room and beyond. Through engaging lectures, practical exercises, and guided discussions, this class focuses on understanding the basics of trauma, the nervous system, and the mind-body connection—core concepts that will transform how you show up for your clients.

  • The Nervous System Made Simple: Gain a clear understanding of the nervous system, Polyvagal Theory and how the nervous system influences emotions, behaviors, and responses during childbirth.

  • Trauma-Informed Care Basics: Learn how to recognize trauma responses in yourself and your clients and how to begin to offer trauma informed care.

  • Somatic Awareness for Birth Workers: Discover how to track and regulate your own nervous system so you can stay grounded and attuned during challenging moments in the birth room.

  • Practical Skills for Real Scenarios: Leave with actionable tools you can apply immediately to support clients in birth situations, prevent trauma, and begin integration for those who may have experienced trauma.
